I am pleased to report that we concluded another successful fundraising campaign in 2024, with the number of new supporters, and supporters at the Cornerstone Society level, continuing to grow. Your generous contributions enabled us to quickly repair and replace cast stonework located along the roofline that was coming loose, and to engage the services of an architect to oversee the work. We were also able to fund the restoration of the historic flooring in the Granary Room, Everett Bar, and clubhouse entryway and main corridor. In 2025 we embark on one of the most ambitious undertakings in the Foundation’s history.

The recent work on the roof, lintels, stonework, and other exterior elements of the Union Club of Boston clubhouse have revealed that there is an urgent need to repair and restore the brick and stone on the Park Street facade of the clubhouse, as well the ironwork. The exterior of the building that we see today dates back to the leveling of the Lowell residence at No. 7 Park in 1898, and replacing it with an annex joined to the Lawrence House, which had assumed its present frontage in the 1830s. It was at this time that new sections of ironwork were installed, and existing sections extended, to unify the look of the face of the clubhouse.

Working with our Project Architect, Mr. Michael Teller, we have arranged for work on the facade to take place over the summer. The scope of the repair and restoration needed is significant, and we hope to raise $750,000.00 for this purpose. We do this as good stewards of our Club, as conscientious neighbors, and as proud Bostonians. Union Club members have always been known for their aspirations, their plans, and their actions.

I hope you will consider making a meaningful contribution to help preserve our wonderful Park Street legacy.
